Trevor Newman | Eyes Down, Straight Ahead

Opening event Sunday June 24, from 4pm

Northart, Auckland

For his first solo exhibition at Northart, Trevor Newman attempts through his works to answer the question: “Can painting really show us something else, take us on a journey that is not available elsewhere?” Towards that end he activates space, pushing the ‘how’ of painting. The backs of Newman’s artworks and the surface of the gallery wall are intended to interact, to “have a dialogue” with the viewer, encouraging them “to see the world through both a vertical and horizontal perspective that reflects the distraction of contemporary life”.
