Te Toi Uku and Auckland Festival of Ceramics present – Te Ahi Pūmau
An installation by Nga Kaihanga Uku – Māori Clayworkers. Featuring nine of the collective’s members – Baye Riddell, Rhonda Halliday, Davina Duke, Stevei Houkamau, Hera Johns, Dorothy Waetford, Amorangi Hikuroa, Todd Douglas and Karuna Douglas.
Te Ahi Pūmau is the inner fire that burns within artists; it is the enduring and consistent fire that cooks ceramics in the kiln; it is the drive into the future and the eternal flame from the past.
