Areez Katki and Christopher Michael Duncan are the authors of the two largest textile works included in Vanished Delft: Areez’s “Daybreak”, a 5-metre-drop of hand-embroidered silk hanging in the Ball Room, and Christopher’s “Handwoven Screen” in the Drawing Room.
Areez has described himself as a practitioner of the applied arts with specific interest in textiles and apparel, creating pieces of knitwear and apparel that are locally crafted by hand. Christopher who specialises in hand weaving is the proprietor of TÜR Studio, a workplace, gallery and retail operation established at 486 Karangahape Road in 2014.
Areez and Christopher will talk about their works in the exhibition and what informs their textile practices.
