Moments of Transcendent Beauty | Paintings by Paul Lyons

Opening Saturday August 12 from 1-3pm
Exhibition runs from Friday August 11 to Wednesday September 6, 2017
Taylor-Jensen Fine Arts, Palmerston North

Moments of Transcendent Beauty is an eye-catching array of 15 – 20 watercolour works which this Palmerston North-based computer systems designer has created when he has ‘felt the need for something more down-to-earth to complement the high technology’ of an office-based, abstract world which has comprised most of his work-a-day life. The artist writes: “…Watercolour paintings – where water-borne pigments, some of them actual ground-up rock, flow together and mix to produce glorious, unpredictable gradations and colour combinations – are about as low-tech as you can get!” The artist further remarks: “Whatever is eye-catching about these scenes often lasts no longer than a few minutes, sometimes only a few seconds. These paintings attempt to capture moments of transcendent beauty.
